Adult Therapy
At PossAbilities we understand that life can present challenges. We also know that navigating these hurdles together can lead to positive change. The compassionate, professional PossAbilities team are here for you. We use a Pluralistic Therapy approach to provide a personalised, confidential psychotherapy service that responds to your unique challenges and hopes for change. Whether you are facing anxiety, panic attacks, depression, bereavement, loss, significant change/transition, relationship difficulties, workplace challenges, or the impact of trauma, we will use our collaborate with you to find the right therapy approach to address your challenges and improve your mental health. We know that words are sometimes not enough to communicate what we are feeling and thinking. As well as using a talking therapy approach, we specialise in offering creative therapy approaches which do not rely on words. We know that methods like art, music, working with metaphor or sand tray, can help unlock a challenging personal story, create a breathing space for insight and lead to creative thinking and solutions. We recognise that these approaches may be new to some and that they are not for everyone. We don’t believe in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. We are committed to collaborating with you and will follow your choice of therapeutic methods wherever we can.
At PossAbilities we believe you are the expert on your life, so we put you in the therapy driving seat. PossAbilities therapy is strengths-based. We believe that everyone has strengths, talents and coping skills. When faced with life challenges we very often forget about our strengths. We can get weighed down by problem-focused thoughts. We end up low on hope and motivation. In our conversations we will therefore focus on finding your coping strengths as well as talking about the challenges you face. We will focus on what is right as well as what is wrong. This helps you take back control of your life. Together this is how we build hope and resilience.
We put client feedback at the heart of our work in PossAbilities. At each meeting we ask you how things are going in relation to your therapy goals and how the session went between us. We use two short, powerful international feedback tools - the Outcome Rating Scale and the Session Rating Scale - to make sure we are putting your voice at the centre. Feedback lets you track your journey of change during therapy. It also allows us to know if we need to adapt our approach if things are not moving in the expected direction.
Therapy is not just about overcoming difficulties. It’s also an opportunity to discover your coping strengths, unlock your potential, and improve your relationships. With our support, you can learn valuable skills to manage stress, improve communication, and grow your resilience in the face of adversity.
Therapy sessions usually happen weekly and can be provided in-person at the PossAbilities Network rooms in Craigavon or via a safe online platform (usually Zoom).
